I, personally, can't see why people have been so disappointed? Maybe I'm just very easily amused, but I found there were plenty of laugh out loud moments.

Same here. In both screenings that I went to, and they were each reasonably well attended, there was a lot of laughter from everyone there.

There was just something about it that didn't seem right, can't put my finger on it though. Loads of funny bits in it. Still worth going to see though, just for the novelty of seeing the Simpsons on the big screen!!

Did not expect much, and really thought it was cool when I saw it!!

I suppose it's like anything - if you don't expect much it becomes better if its good. Take Shawshank Redemption for example...... no one expected anything and they got everything!!!

A sequel has been announced for July 23rd 2027.

Not sure how I feel about this. I enjoyed the original film but I have not really watched the show properly since the early 2000’s, and even then I was starting to fade away from it. I did watch a few newer episodes a few years ago and it’s just not the same. The writing and pacing is just not what it was and some of the voice actors just cannot do it anymore.

Maybe this will mark the end of The Simpsons entirely?

I thought the first film was rubbish compared to the TV Series.

I don't have Disney+, but I've only downloaded the first 13 seasons, as I've been told only the first 13 are good and the others ain't worth my bandwidth

That’s probably about right. 90’s The Simpsons is really where it’s at. I faded away from the show during 2001/02 but I found the 2007 Movie to be enjoyable and a nice way to revisit the “show” after not really watching it in a while.

Seasons 2-9 are the classic years where The Simpsons is arguably the best show of all time. Season 10 and 11 are okay but the decline is pretty evident then. That's when Homer turns into Jerk-Homer and it all starts going wrong. Basically, season 13 onwards is pretty awful. For about 15 years, the show has basically no connection to the show from seasons 2-9.

The first movie was pretty poor. Despite bringing back a lot of the classic writers, they just couldn't recapture the old magic.

I can't believe they are making a second movie now. It is so far passed it's peak, and so many of the actors are either gone or can't perform anymore. The actress who plays Marge makes JBJs current r voice sound like peak Pavorotti by comparison.
